Gas hob installation covers the safe fitting, connection, inspection and testing of the appliance so it is left in a usable condition.
Access is required to the appliance location, nearby pipework and isolation points. The area is checked for obvious hazards, signs of damage, restricted access and any conditions that could affect safe working. Existing gas supply arrangements and surrounding surfaces are assessed before any work begins.
The existing hob, connection route, pipework, ventilation and adjacent fittings are inspected to confirm the scope of work. Condition checks identify whether the task involves replacement, first-time installation, reconnection or remedial work. Any visible defects, corrosion, leaks, blockages or unsuitable components are noted before proceeding.
The appliance is positioned, secured and connected in line with the required installation method. Associated pipework, isolation valves, seals and fittings are checked and adjusted as needed. Any necessary minor remedial work is carried out within the agreed scope, while larger defects or non-compliant installations may require separate corrective work.
The completed installation is tested for gas tightness and correct operation. Burner ignition, flame stability, controls and shut-off function are checked. Any signs of leakage, poor performance or unsafe operation are investigated and rectified where possible within the service scope. The appliance is confirmed as operating as intended only after satisfactory testing.
The finished installation is left in a safe and usable condition, with the work area tidied and any relevant observations explained. Limitations are identified where existing pipework, appliance condition, ventilation or surrounding fabric prevent a full remedy within the service scope. Any further work required for compliance, replacement parts or structural alterations is clearly noted.
