Tap installation covers assessment, removal where required, fitting of a replacement or new tap, and final checks for secure operation and a watertight finish.
Access to the sink, basin, bath, or appliance connection is confirmed before work begins. The surrounding area is inspected for visible hazards, signs of previous leaks, and any restrictions that may affect safe removal or fitting.
The existing tap, supply pipework, isolation valves, and nearby fittings are examined to establish the condition of the installation. The assessment identifies whether the task involves replacement, first-time installation, or remedial work to address wear, corrosion, poor sealing, or restricted flow.
The tap is removed where necessary and the new fitting is prepared for installation. Connections are aligned to the existing pipework, seals and washers are positioned correctly, and any minor adjustments to pipework or fittings are made within the agreed scope.
The water supply is restored and the tap is tested for smooth operation, correct flow, temperature control where relevant, and secure shut-off. All joints and connections are checked for leaks under working pressure.
The completed installation is left in working order, with visible debris from the task cleared from the immediate area. Any limitations are explained where existing pipework, isolation valves, water pressure, or appliance condition may affect long-term performance.
